Do not touch the inside of the container or container lid. Collect the urine until the container is half full.

*Female patient should avoid urine collection during menstral period.

Do not touch the inside of the container or container lid. Bladder should be emptied before going to sleep. Collect the urine when the patient first wakes up in the morning.

Female patients should be instructed to cleanse the area around the urethral opening with wet tissue, dry the area, and collect the urine with the labia held apart using the fingers of the free hand. Pass urine into the toilet for about 2 seconds and catch the urine using the container until the container is half full. Recap the container and taking care not to contaminate the urine specimen. 

*Female patient should avoid urine collection during menstral period.

Male patients if not circumcised should pull back the foreskin. Clean the tip of penis with wet tissue. Pass urine into the toilet for about 2 seconds and catch the urine using the container until it is half full. Recap the container and taking care not to contaminate the urine specimen.

The healthcare provider inserts a foley catheter into the bladder through the urethra to collect the urine sample.
